KAKEN
The Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Database consists of two main components: “KAKEN – Search for Research Projects”, which allows users to search research projects funded by the program, and “KAKEN – Search for Researchers”, which integrates researcher information from various databases, based on the data found in “KAKEN – Search for Research Projects”.
KAKEN – Search for Research Projects
“KAKEN – Search for Research Projects” contains information on research projects funded by the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research program administered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). It includes data at the time of initial grant selection (adopted projects), summaries of research outcomes (interim reports, annual reports, and abstracts of final reports), full research reports, and self-assessment reports.
Since the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research program spans all academic disciplines, this database enables users to access up-to-date information on research activities across the full spectrum of scholarly fields in Japan.
KAKEN – Search for Researchers
“KAKEN – Search for Researchers” is built by mechanically integrating researcher and research output information based on data from “KAKEN – Search for Research Projects” along with partial data from other sources such as the Institutional Repositories DataBase (IRDB), CiNii Articles, researchmap, and JaLC DOI. Because these databases may include incorrect or inconsistent entries, the search results may also contain erroneous information.
Researcher pages in “KAKEN – Search for Researchers” are generated based on individual researcher IDs (KAKEN researcher numbers). Therefore, in order for a researcher to appear in the search results, the following conditions must be met:
-
The researcher must have been issued a KAKEN researcher number.
-
A project associated with that researcher number must be listed in “KAKEN – Search for Research Projects.”
