The Research Center for Knowledge Media and Content Science (KMCS) at the National Institute of Informatics (NII) conducts research and development on services that collect and integrate scholarly information to provide it in useful forms to a wide range of users.

KMCS aims to further develop CiNii as a foundational platform for academic information search in Japan, in response to the needs of researchers and other users of scholarly information.
It also endeavors to collaborate with global scholarly information networks and contribute to the dissemination of Japanese academic research worldwide.
